Plant Safety record

Spray - Even in the Heat of Day!

Fortunately our PLP Natural Products liquid formula has an excellent plant safety record. Incorporated by many pest control companies as part of their natural programs that they are offering to their clients. The beauty of our products is that it can used at any time of day!

Our Plant Safety Test

  • The photos below were taken in the Florida Keys. Using PLP Liquid Formula, the spray application temperature was 87 degrees F.

  • Over the next four days the heat index was 106 F degrees with an air temperature of 91 degrees F. These conditions would normally burn a plant by the next day using standard summer horticultural spray oils that are available at agricultural chemical supply houses.

  • Photos were taken to document that in the sub tropics, even sensitive plants like Plumbago, Hibiscus, Staghorn ferns, Bougainvillea, Orchids, Gardenias and fruit trees as Bananas, Citrus, Mango and Guava had no adverse effects. Even the blooms on these plant materials had no signs of burning.

  • Not only was this group of plants treated with our liquid formulas but also treated with a tank mix of a typical agricultural fertilizer solution. This tank mix also contained a slow release liquid and a spreader, wetting, penetrable agent.

Again, there was no signs of plant burn.

Many CAUTIONS Of Horticultural Spray Oils

  • AVOID spraying during high temperature (above 90°F). Many oil-based products must be sprayed in morning or late afternoon to minimize the potential for leaf burn.

  • DO NOT apply to known sensitive plant species such as impatiens flowers, fuchsia flowers, hibiscus flowers, some rose flowers, ornamental olive trees or some carnation.

  • DO NOT spray around fish, bog gardens, and ornamental fish ponds because many horticultural oils are toxic.

  • AVOID spraying flowers with open blooms.

  • AVOID spraying tender succulent plants, and if sprayed must be rinsed off afterwards with water.

  • DO NOT spray different types of Spruce trees, might remove the blue blooms.
